Of the four countries we register in, North Macedonia has the most centralised, most predictable formation process. What the sequence looks like, what still takes real time, and where the simplicity honestly ends.
North Macedonia made a decision the rest of the region is still circling: it centralised company formation into a one-stop-shop model around the Central Registry. Where Bosnia routes you through entity choice, court practice and multiple offices, Macedonia's standard formation is one coordinated filing — company registration, tax number and statistical registration handled as a package, in a system designed to be measured in days. For a single-founder DOOEL (the wholly-owned limited company) or a multi-member DOO with a standard activity, the state's part of the process is the fastest in our practice.
The lean process covers the standard scenario. Three things still deserve adult attention: licensed activities — anything regulated (finance, food, transport, construction, energy) adds its own sequence after registration, on its own timeline; employment — hiring triggers registrations and contribution mechanics where the real complexity of the system lives; and VAT registration — thresholds and voluntary registration deserve a deliberate choice, not a default, especially for exporters who want input VAT back.
Macedonia is the country where "we can have the company this month" is usually a true sentence rather than a sales one. That makes it the natural pick when speed-to-operational matters — a contract that needs a local signature, a tender with a deadline, a group that wants its regional entity now and its optimisation later. The fix price is the same as everywhere: EUR 4,000, all-in, with the banking file complimentary. The country simply delivers its part of the sequence faster.
